Reading becomes a habit when a school treats books as companions, not just classroom material. DAV Public School Pokhariput celebrated P N Panicker National Reading Month with this very spirit, encouraging students to read more, think deeper, and express themselves with confidence.

Observed across India from 19 June to 18 July, National Reading Month honours P N Panicker, widely remembered as the Father of the Library Movement in India. His vision was simple and powerful: every child should have access to books, knowledge, and the joy of reading.

A celebration of books and young readers

At DAV Public School Pokhariput, the celebration focused on building a strong reading culture among students. The program encouraged learners to spend meaningful time with books and understand how reading shapes imagination, language, discipline, and decision-making.

The activities created an engaging atmosphere where students could connect with stories, ideas, poems, biographies, newspapers, and value-based literature. Instead of treating reading as a task, the celebration presented it as a joyful daily practice.

Carrying the habit beyond the month

The real success of National Reading Month lies in what happens after the celebration ends. DAV Public School, Pokhariput encouraged students to continue the habit by reading a few pages every day, visiting the library regularly, and discussing books with classmates, teachers, and family members.
